Back to the Start

It has been a little while since I updated here, so I thought it was about time to get caught up with everything we have been up to this year.  I left off in January, so I'm going back to January to start this update.  We started off the new year with a trip to see Grandma and Grandpa B.  We stopped along the way to enjoy some warmth and sunshine.
My brother was able to come in for a short visit too.  It was nice to see him and his kids.  While he was there he and Mallory finished their first pot holder with Mallory's new loom.
Leah and Mikayla tackled the rubber band loom to try and figure out how to make a bracelet.
We celebrated Grandpa's birthday with a yummy cheesecake.
And the kids got to play with their cousins, Landen and Mallory.
We also ventured to Sedona for a couple weekends to get some more sunshine and warm afternoon hikes in.  We tried taking the dogs along for the hike.  While they enjoyed hiking with us, Ivy did not like the car ride there.  She still gets a little carsick.

Rio celebrated a birthday in January.  He is now 10 years old!  He may look a little gray in the face, but he is still young at heart.

The scenery in Sedona can't be beat!

I started off the new year with a resolution to get back in shape.  My friend, Rae, and I have been working out together.  We both started off the year a little out of shape, so we entered a 5K in Sedona to motivate us to keep moving.  It was lots of fun and a good excuse to get out of the house and back to the sunshine for another day.

Leah insisted on signing all of her Valentines by herself this year.  They came with little heart stickers to close the envelopes.  Unfortunately, the little stickers were not strong enough to keep the envelopes shut.  Leah was very frustrated by this, but she came up with her own solution to get those envelopes to stay shut!
I helped out at Leah's Valentines party at her school this year.  It was fun to see her enjoying the day with her BFF.  These two have been in school together for 2 years now.  They are really hoping that they will get the same teacher next year for kindergarten.
And yep, back to Sedona again.  It's too hot to hike there in the summer so we have to take advantage of the gorgeous weather while we can.

This hike was to these rocks called Two Nuns.  The one rock really does look like a nun.  We thought the other one looked more like an elephant though.
The weather was pretty nice here this winter, but on the cold days, we kept busy with a game of battleship.  Miles has a big smile on his face here because he just sank my battleship!
