School Days

It's that time of year again.  The kids are back in school.  Leah was very excited to head off to kindergarten.  She is a little disappointed in the lack of homework so far.  She loves her teacher and her class though.
Miles started second grade.  He is also enjoying his class and likes his teacher.  He wishes he had a little less homework though.

Before school started, we decided to fit in one last trip to Utah to visit family and have some fun.  We promised the kids a trip to Snowbird to ride the alpine slides and do the other activities there.  We picked a day when it decided to threaten to rain all day, but luckily the rain stayed away long enough for us to get in a lot of fun.  Miles has been asking to do a zipline all summer.  Snowbird took out their zipline and put in this mountain flyer instead.  I think he approved.
It went fast just like a zipline.
We also rode the alpine slides.  Miles was big enough to ride his own sled this year.

We also tried out their new mountain coaster.  It was a lot of fun!
These three tried their hand at rock climbing.
Clay made it to the top.  The other two almost made it all the way too.

You can tell it was a fun day when this is what you see in the backseat 5 minutes into the trip home.
Aunt Kathy sent the kids some boats to put together this summer so we took them to Grandma and Grandpa's house to try them out in the pond.
 This one did really well.
Landen stopped by for a visit on the last day.  The boys had a lot of fun playing together.

We also got to spend some time with Isaac, Sarah, and Katie while we were there.  We rode the train down to Gateway and played in the fountain one night.  It was hot so the kids jumped right in the water.

After running through the fountain, we got back on the train and went to get some dinner.
We also found some time to go out and play a game of golf with Grandpa B.  Miles has been taking golf lessons this summer and he is really enjoying it.  He hits the ball pretty well too.

On the way home, we stopped to see my friend Holly.  It has been several years since we got to visit in person so it was nice to see her and her boys for a little while.  Now that she lives a little closer, maybe we will get to see them more often.
This summer some friends of ours introduced us to a creek about 45 minutes away from our house.  It is a great little place where it gets really hot, so the cold water feels really good, but the best part is that there are areas where there are natural waterslides that you can slide down.  We had a lot of fun playing in the creek with them.
 One of the slides.

Even Rio and Ivy got to play in the creek.
 Another slide.
Well, that about wraps up our summer.  We had lots of fun with lots of great people.  It is always sad to see summer vacation come to an end, but I'm sure we will still manage to fit in some more fun before winter hits.
