And when there is no mountain to be found, then by golly, climb every piece of furniture you can get your hands on. This is Leah's new motto. This kid was born to live in the mountains because she loves to climb. She climbs on the couches, the chairs, the kitchen table, the toy chests, her toy kitchen, my dresser, the bathroom counter, if something presents a challenge to her, she will try to conquer it. She has no fear. Here she is climbing the ladder to Miles' clubhouse.

She also loves corn on the cob. She figured out how to eat it by herself a few weeks ago and now we can't keep it away from her. She threw a little tantrum last night because I wouldn't let her eat it before I cooked it. She actually sat by the pot as it cooked and told me all about how she really wanted that corn in her toddler gibberish. Miles loves to eat corn too, although he insists he wants baby corn, not mama or daddy corn. This is fine with me, because it means he takes the smallest ear and leaves the bigger ones for me. We are down to our last few ears in the garden and I think we will be going through a little withdrawal around here once those ears are gone. At least we have the tomatoes to keep us busy.

The weather here has been gorgeous this weekend and we have been outside enjoying it as much as possible. Miles and Leah were having a good time playing outside together yesterday. Miles wanted to push Leah in the swing and he actually did a great job. Even though his head was right at the level of Leah's feet as she swung towards him, he managed not to get kicked by her. They were both laughing and having a great time. They also like swinging on the tire swing together.

Playing peek-a-boo

Miles wanted me to take his picture going down his "fast" slide.

Rio was looking rather handsome, even with his graying muzzle.

Last weekend, we ventured to the local amusement park with the kids. Miles is tall enough to ride some of the bigger rides this year and that was fun for us because we got to ride on those rides with him. We were able to talk him into riding quite a few rides, and this year his favorite ride ended up being his least favorite ride from last year, the little kiddie roller coaster. He would yell "Wheee!!!" with me when we would go down the hills and then say to me, "That was fun Mom! Let's do it again." Maybe I will have a partner who will ride the fun rides with me in a few years. I had to ride the new roller coaster by myself this year because Clay wouldn't try it out with me. Leah got to ride a few of the little kid rides. She did best with Miles next to her since she could watch him and do what he did instead of trying to climb out, but we put her on the baby boats by herself once and she only tried to climb out the last two times around the little loop. These pictures are from our camera phones since we didn't want to take the big camera along, so they aren't very clear.

Tomorrow is a very big day in this house. First day of preschool! Miles and I are both very excited about this big milestone, although Miles is a little sad he doesn't get to ride on a school bus to get there.
