In Summer

It's summertime!  And each summer, someone very special celebrates an important day.  Our little ice princess is 5!  Just like most 5 year old little girls, she is obsessed with the movie Frozen and loves to pretend to be Elsa and run around the house singing, "Let It Go."  She even wrote Elsa on all her schoolwork this spring instead of Leah.  For her birthday, we decided to upgrade her singing outfit from a plastic tiara and a baby blanket to her very own Elsa dress and a fancy metal tiara.
There were also a few legos involved.  We can't have a birthday in this house without lego!

She was very excited to finally get the lego dophin cruiser too.  She has been asking for that since Christmas!
She was pretty impressed with the big pile of presents waiting for her.  She had a really hard time waiting all day to open her presents, so we slowly let her rip into a couple at a time through the day.
To continue our Frozen theme, we made an Olaf cake for Leah.  I'm sure Olaf would be happy to know he got to be part of a summer birthday.
It's getting harder to blow out all of those candles!
Leah also got a new tea set, so we had to have a tea party to break it in.
She and Grandma B enjoyed their tea and crackers.
A few weeks later we celebrated her birthday with her friends with a little pool party.  Everyone had a great time swimming and eating cake and treats.
Leah was excited to try out her new snorkel at the pool.  She took to it right away and loves to snorkel all over the place.

My baby is now 5, which means she is off to kindergarten this year.  She is officially a big kid.  Sometimes it is bittersweet to think that her baby days are behind us, but it is so much fun watching her grow up into this amazing little girl!  She is so determined to do whatever she puts her mind to and she sets out to succeed at anything she tries.  She is playing soccer again this summer and she loves to get the ball under her control and take it to the goal.  She has scored several goals in each game and her record so far is 7 goals in one game!  We have really enjoyed cheering her on.
Here are a couple videos of her taking the ball to the goal.

Happy 5th Birthday, Leah!  We look forward to cheering you on as you take on the world and reach your goals one by one.
