The Wild Blue Yonder

We have returned from our trip to the wild blue yonder and other fun places. We had a nice, but busy vacation to California last week. Clay has all the pics from the first part of our trip on his computer, so I'm starting at the end of our trip and working backwards.

We spent our last day in California in San Diego, exploring the bay front and went on a tour of the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier. Miles and Leah loved exploring the "very little" hallways and stairways and also loved checking out all the planes and helicopters.

Making himself right at home. He would have stayed on this helicopter all day if we would have let him.

Looking out the "window" at the water.

One of things that we would do to entertain Leah in the car or at restaurants was teaching her to count to 10. She has two, three, five, eight, and nine down now. While we were walking through these hallways on the boat, she would climb up onto each doorway and then count, "two, fee!" and then jump. It was quite endearing to us, but I'm not sure the 20 people walking behind us appreciated it as much as we did.

They fell asleep on the walk to the restaurant and Clay and I got to enjoy a relaxing lunch while they napped in the stroller.

The "broken" bridge. This pedestrian bridge crossed the street in front of our hotel. Clay told Miles that the bridge might fall down because it was so crooked, so Miles insisted on calling this the broken bridge.

It was like Christmas all over again here today. The kids are so excited to play with all their toys again after being away from them for a week. It has been nice to sit and relax a little between loads of laundry while they play. Everywhere we went on vacation, they had us stop and pose for a picture before we entered an exhibit or ride or tour. They did this at the Wild Animal Park, at SeaWorld, the zoo, and even the USS Midway. Out of the 10 or so pictures they took of us at various places, one of them actually turned out decent and I bought it. I guess it's actually a pretty good idea, they were the only pictures of all of us together taken on our vacation, but they charge an obscene amount for those pictures which is kind of crazy in this day of digital prints that are so cheap to print out. Today Miles was playing trains and as his trains stopped at the gate to go across the bridge, he made each of them stop for a photo before crossing the bridge. I guess he thought it was a good idea too.

How fun!! Our boys LOVE the USS Midway. They ask all the time when can we go back. You would think after 3 times they wouldn't want to go back but every time we find out new things there. I love all the pictures of the kids.
Your next trip you should come here. :) Love ya!!!
